How to Maintain Your Sphere of Influence

In many professions, marketing to a sphere of influence is the major way of obtaining business. However, in order for the connections you have made to be more effective in obtaining future business, the connections have to be periodically reinforced.

Staying in touch with your sphere and reminding them of your service is crucial. However, this can be done more creatively and memorably than solely using the traditional methods of postcards and other mailers.

Top-producing real estate team Susan Castaneda and Shawn Miller, who have given trainings on staying in touch with your sphere to other real estate agents, shared the methods they successfully use.

Holidays are always recognized by the team, who do things such as give small American flags on the Fourth of July and ornaments during the winter holiday season. Little trinkets or baked goods associated with the holidays are always fun to receive, and are remembered upon fondly.

Castaneda and Miller also emphasized the importance of recording personal information about past clients. They utilize this by sending birthday cards and cards to celebrate the “anniversary” of their clients’ new home.

Being more creative with marketing makes you more memorable to your sphere and helps you stand out from the rest of the pack. In the second part of this series, how to use events in maintaining your sphere will be discussed.
